The Children's Aid Society Chorus

Ages 11-18

The Children’s Aid Society Chorus is now located at Rhinelander!

Program Description:  The Children's Aid Society Chorus Program is in its 16th year of bringing together children from all over New York City in song. Chorus participants practice and perform a mixture of classical, popular and world music with artistry. Through the process, they experience personal, musical and social growth. The Chorus encourages intercultural awareness as members come from many ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The Children's Aid Society Chorus is designed for advanced singers ages 11-18 who enjoy the challenge and fulfillment of singing a wide range of music in two, three and four part harmony, including fully choreographed numbers.

Performance is an essential part of The Children's Aid's Society Chorus, and the young singers in this group have performed with legendary mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne, Broadway star Donna Murphy, pop superstar Miguel and rock and roll Hall of Fame inductee Darryl McDaniels of Run-D.M.C. Chorus members have performed on NBC's Today Show, CBS's Early Morning Show, Fox's Good Day New York and ABC's The View. In the past year, the Chorus performed at Radio City Music Hall twice, for the opening night of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and for the annual Garden of Dreams Foundation Talent Show with Whoopi Goldberg.  The Chorus also had the privilege of singing the national anthem at Madison Square Garden for a Rangers game and sang at the halftime show of the Knicks opening game with Darryl McDaniels of Run-D.M.C. The Chorus has toured various cities including Chicago, Atlanta, Hershey, Pa., Toronto and San Juan, Puerto Rico. High praise has been received for their performances at such historic locations as Gracie Mansion, The Morgan Library and Museum and the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

Chorus members regularly attend professional performances, including shows on Broadway, Off-Broadway and at Carnegie Hall to further their musical development.
