Critical Praise for The New Acting Company:

Laurel Graeber of the New York Times says of 2010's Peter Pan, "Theatergoers will find much to enchant them, including the talents of other children."

“A truly remarkable production of one of literature’s classic works.” -Ashley Griffin, Theateronline.com

"The New Acting Company embodies the best kind of children’s theater." -Martin Denton, NYtheatre.com

Created and founded in 2000 by Producing Artistic Director, Stephen Michael Rondel, the New Acting Company's mission is to use the energy of live performance (both onstage and in class) allowing students to face issues of responsibility, commitment, trust, friendship, teamwork, reading comprehension, self-esteem, risk and success.

We pride ourselves in offering children, teens and adults the opportunity to study, rehearse and perform challenging texts in our professional, state of-the-art 100 seat theater. Our expectations are high. Students are consistently challenged to "rise to the occasion," and at the same time we accept that live theater is a fickle art form, fraught with risks and surprises. We believe it is this unexpected aspect of live performance that has the unique ability to lift our students up with pride, to reveal skills which they were not aware of and to change (or at least point out) the inaccuracy of their perceived limitations.

Our annual professional productions feature classic plays, fairytales and original adaptations of children's literature guaranteed to engage the adults in the audience as thoroughly as the children.

Most important of all, The New Acting Company strives to be a fun, safe and creative place for children, teens and adults to express themselves. We pride ourselves in bringing top-quality family theater to the heart of Greenwich Village.
