History
The Mirabal Sisters Campus opened as I.S. 90 in collaboration with The Children’s Aid Society in October, 1994.
The school is named after Patria, Minerva and Maria Teresa Mirabal, three sisters from the Dominican Republic who opposed the oppressive regime of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. In their fight for their country’s political freedom, the sisters were repeatedly persecuted and jailed before their brutal assassination on November 25, 1960. Trujillo was removed from power six months later.
