Next Wednesday, more than 4,000 children and their families will enjoy an uplifting Thanksgiving Eve celebration of community, shared gratitude, and great food at 14 Children’s Aid centers and schools across our city.

For many, it will be the best meal of the year. Not just because the turkey, sweet potatoes, pies, and other dishes will be so tasty. What makes the meal truly special is the spirit of togetherness that pervades each joyful event.

New York, NY – The Trustees of the Children’s Aid Society Community Charter School (CASCCS) will be holding its next meeting on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 6-8pm at 105 East 22nd Street, New York, NY in the Executive Conference Room, Suite 102.

Trustee meetings are subject to the public notification requirements of the Open Meetings Law.

One Year Later, Harlem Community Remembers Cheyenne Baez

The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) will host a memorial gathering in remembrance of Cheyenne “Canela” Baez, who was shot and killed in East Harlem one year ago. The event, organized by Unity for Community and Save Our Youth, will provide community members with a chance to reflect on the life Cheyenne Baez as well as make young people in the neighborhood aware of impact of gun violence.

Who: Cheyenne Baez, a teenaged victim of gun violence, is remembered.

When: Wednesday, October 5, 2011 6:00 p.m.

A focus on results will frame The Children's Aid Society's Ninth Community Schools Practicum, to be held October 26-28, 2011 in New York City.  Invited participants will have an opportunity to learn about the results from community school evaluations across the country and to explore some of the challenges faced by leaders in the field as they seek to document the impact of their efforts.
