Weekend Programs
Weekend programs offer a range of arts, educational and recreational pursuits. The goal is to help children and teens gain and build self-confidence in a safe environment. This allows them to experience positive social and emotional growth. Our Saturday programs include:
- Study Now - Play Later at Dunlevy Milbank Center requires 90 minutes of study before youth can participate in sports, fitness or cultural programming.
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults and sports for youths are offered at the East Harlem Center.
- The Biddy Program at Frederick Douglass Center teaches athletic skills and provides academic support.
- The Saturday Program for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children and Teens at Rhinelander Children's Center provides camaraderie as well as field trips and community service projects.
- UKARE (Uptown Kids are Reading Everyday) allows mentors and mentees, in grades 6-8, to explore their love of reading and build literacy skills.
