Bronx Youth Council
The Bronx Youth Council empowers South Bronx middle and high school students to take action on issues affecting their neighborhood.
Each year, council members identify a critical community issue and work with their “constituents” (students at their schools) to better understand how the situation affects them and their families. Past issues have included gang violence and mental health treatment.
At the end of the school year, students present the core issues of their selected topic and offer recommendations to youth, parents, educators, community-based organizations and elected officials.
