YES Mentoring

In 1992, two New York City Family Court Judges founded the Youth Empowerment for Success (YES) Mentoring Program in conjunction with CAS. Their goal was to address the needs of the adolescent males who had come through the family Court system and who had been referred to the PINS Diversion Program. Building on the program’s success, YES for Girls was created in 1997.

The award-winning YES Program is unique as a multi-faceted mentoring and social work collaboration that addresses the educational, social and emotional needs of this at-risk population. By creating a safe environment that fosters pride and self-validation, YES optimizes the potential of young men and women on the threshold of adulthood.

Core Competencies of the Program
Mentors guide and prepare today’s at-risk youth towards a positive self-identity filled with:

  • Social skills and self esteem
  • Sense of responsibility and community
