A Restorative Approach to Legal Advocacy

During this time of fiscal crisis when needy families are more likely than ever to fall through the cracks, government, not-for-profit and nonprofit legal and social service providers should consider adopting a socio-legal model to maximize resources and ensure that at-risk families get the assistance they need and the services to which they are entitled. Over the past 15 years, The Children’s Aid Society has developed and refined an approach for addressing the legal advocacy needs of low-income families through training and collaboration between front-line social service staff and our Office of Public Policy & Client Advocacy (OPPCA).
