Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention
Adolescents Need Comprehensive Youth Development and Approaches that Work
Teens need information and reasons to avoid risky sexual behaviors that can have devastating consequences. In a country that still has the highest rate of births to teenagers in the industrialized world, The Children’s Aid Society believes that future aspirations are powerful contraceptives to help young people avoid such high-risk behaviors. Abstinence-only approaches do not work. Intensive youth development approaches that help instill a positive sense of future aspirations in young people and provide quality health care and sexuality education do work.
