The 6th Annual Children’s Art Show

At the reception and private showing on March 7th, students were proud to point out and discuss their work. Ten year old Amanda Perez, explained “when I was sewing it [a denim pillow] I put my mind into it and whenever you put your mind into something it turns out great.”
The Art Show was an opportunity to celebrate children’s creative expression in the visual arts classes offered at over 20 Children’s Aid sites, with more than 200 classes weekly. The Children’s Aid Society believes that exposure to the arts and arts education is essential to the intellectual and social development of every child and that the benefits derived from participation in arts programs should be available to all children, regardless of social and economic circumstances. Demetria James explained the effect that art has had on her 7 year old daughter Brienne, “She has blossomed so much from taking this art class.”
