Young Performers Star in Charity Donation
March 2, 2009
Actors from ‘South Pacific’ and ‘Happiness’ Join to Raise Money for New York’s Children’s Aid Society
Right after the Wednesday February 25 matinee of “South Pacific” at the Vivian Beaumont, six young performers with the giving spirit presented money they had raised for The Children’s Aid Society to Patricia M. Grayson, the charity’s Assistant Executive Director for Development. The $879 they presented was the result of a bake sale and their offstage roles as ‘Cupid’s Little Helpers’ on Valentine’s Day at the theater (when they sold pipe cleaner flowers and red hearts).
Inspired by President Obama’s call to community service, the young Broadway stars decided to hold a bake sale and choose a charity as its beneficiary. They selected The Children’s Aid Society after researching charities on the web. Their donation will help New York City children and families in need!
