As public school funding of the arts is drastically reduced, children are forced to find creative outlets outside of school. The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) helps fill this gap by providing participants at its community schools and centers across the city with a wide range of art programs, including visual arts, drama, music, dance and gym activities.
The 5th Annual Children’s Aid Society Children’s Art Show at The National Arts Club will showcase approximately 180 pieces of art by children ages 2-18. These budding artists from CAS programs work in every medium imaginable, including oils, watercolors, photography, wood, plaster, clay, cardboard and paper.
The young artists will be in attendance at the art show reception, along with their proud parents and teachers.
The Children’s Aid Society arts programming reflects the belief that arts are crucial to youth development. Participants in Children’s Aid programs can choose from a variety of arts activities, including instrumental bands, award-winning choruses, theater, photography, harman: how to listen, the American Ballet Theater’s “Make a Ballet” and CAS/AileyCamp.
Exhibition open to the public March 7-12.
