Minyanville and Children's Aid Join Forces to Promote Financial Literacy
April 23, 2008
As part of April’s National Financial Literacy Month, Minyanville Publishing and Multimedia (www.minyanville.com), a leading financial media company, launched a partnership with New York City’s largest and most innovative child and family services provider— The Children’s Aid Society – to spread its message of financial literacy to children.
On April 23, Minyanville brought its virtual community and game site, MinyanLand (www.minyanland.com) to 7-12-year-olds at Children’s Aid’s Frederick Douglass Center in upper Manhattan. The web site teaches children the importance of earning, saving, spending and giving through fun, interactive games and activities.
Also on this date, a column about the “business of giving” by Children’s Aid’s CEO, C. Warren Moses, debuted on the Minyanville website.
“Many families come to The Children’s Aid Society looking for tools to help their children lead richer, more productive lives,” said Moses. “MinyanLand is free and available to anyone who can go online with a computer. The financial literacy tools available on MinyanLand give our children accessibility to knowledge they can use for a lifetime.”
Moses joins Minyanville’s talented list of contributors with his bi-weekly column. In each column, Moses shares his insights on the non-profit world with Minyanville readers. “Partnering with Minyanville allows Children’s Aid to bring the right resources to the children we serve and allows us to bring relevant information about the charitable world to Minyanville users,” he said.
For 155 years, The Children’s Aid Society has served New York City’s neediest children and their families. Its programs provide assistance to children as they grow, with a wide range of services — from health care and academics to sports and the arts.
"Today's economic conditions demand that we educate our future generations to become financially responsible adults," said Todd Harrison, founder and CEO, Minyanville. “Children's Aid Society enables us to effect positive change through financial understanding in a fun and engaging way."
