East Harlem Parents Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mayor Bloomberg!
June 4, 2008
Parents and staff from Children’s Aid’s East Harlem Center’s Head Start program had the chance to visit Gracie Mansion to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The Mayor hosts a Cinco de Mayo gathering every year to pay tribute to Mexican history, customs and contributions.
Children’s Aid Trustee Lolita Jackson, who works in community affairs at City Hall, extended the invitation to our parents. The Children’s Aid contingent was treated to delicious food, the sounds of a mariachi band, the camaraderie of the New York City Mexican community and the unique opportunity to visit Gracie Mansion and talk to the Mayor.
