Jane F. Golden Named Assistant Executive Director of The Children's Aid Society

NEW YORK, October 2009 − The Children's Aid Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Jane F. Golden as Assistant Executive Director for Child Welfare Policy and Foster Care Services.

In her previous position as Director of The Children’s Aid Society’s Adoption and Foster Care Division, Golden headed up the agency’s medical, therapeutic and family foster care services, as well as adoption services. The specialized foster care programs doubled under her leadership. She developed the Children’s Aid Society Expedited Permanency program, which provides intensive support services to parents seeking to be reunified with their children who are in foster care and has provided leadership to Children’s Aid’s Next Generation Center a one-stop teen center in the South Bronx which provides enhanced services to disconnected youth, ages 14-24, with a special focus on young people aging out of the foster care system.

In her new role, Golden will continue to provide leadership for the division, as well as expand her presence as a policy advocate and member of the Children’s Aid executive team. Golden will advocate on behalf of children with our partner coalitions, including the Council of Family and Child Caring Agencies (COFCCA) the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA), and the New York City Bar Association’s Council on Children.

Golden has been with The Children’s Aid Society for ten years. Before joining Children’s Aid, she directed C-PLAN, a public/private child welfare advocacy project in the Office of the New York City Public Advocate. Before turning full time to public service Golden worked as a litigator in the private sector. She holds a JD and MSW from Columbia University.
