What:
Congressman Rangel is expected to address the crowd at 7:00 p.m., at the start of the student performances.
• Students, parents, staff and community members from nine Children’s Aid Society community schools in Washington Heights, East Harlem and the Bronx will celebrate African-American and Dominican heritages.
• 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. - Open house featuring displays, food and costumes representative of two villages – one in the Dominican Republic and one in West Africa.
• 7:00 p.m. - Approximately 200 Children’s Aid Society community school students, ages 5-18, will perform a variety of dances including hip hop, jazz, salsa and West African, as well as recite hip hop poetry.
