We are thrilled to share the news that Jane Golden, The Children’s Aid Society’s Vice President of Child Welfare and Family Services, has been appointed chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Council on Children. In this role, Jane will lead key players in the juvenile justice, child welfare, family violence, and education fields, providing advocacy, reporting, and recommendations to city, state and federal leaders on behalf of New York’s youth and their families. Topics the council has recently tackled include raising the age of criminal responsibility; implementation of the Close to Home initiative at the state and city level; implementation of the state’s Safe Harbor law on youth engaged in prostitution; and strategies to improve the efficacy of Family Court by increasing the number of judges and decreasing the number of court delays. Prior to her appointment as chair, Jane served as secretary of the Council on Children.
