NY Cares, Toys 4 Tots, The Children's Aid Society and Hudson Cradle Charities all Benefit from 5-Day Radio Live Broadcast on 107.5 WBLS-FM

(New York, NY-December 6, 2010) -- NYC Radio Personality/National TV Host, Egypt Sherrod, presents the First Annual “Egypt’s Give Back Tour,” in partnership with non-profit charities including NY Cares, Toys 4 Tots, The Children's Aid Society and Hudson Cradle taking place December 13-17, 2010, 10am-3pm.

“Egypt’s Give Back Tour” is a coat, toy, and fundraising drive to benefit the Tri-State area’s financially challenged residents. The 5-day tour will be anchored by a daily 5-hour radio live broadcast originating from locations in Brooklyn, Bronx, Harlem, Queens and Newark, NJ (heard via 107.5 WBLS-FM).

While the holidays can be the most joyful time of the year, they can also be the most stressful time of the year as people are faced with the decision of want vs. need. Having recognized that one small act of consideration or selflessness can impact a life on a major level, the “Egypt’s Give Back Tour” was birthed.

“Recent statistics report that well over a half a million NYC residents will lose their unemployment benefits between now and May of 2011. That number is staggering!” Egypt stated. “I’ve always felt a sense of responsibility to utilize the power I have behind the radio microphone to serve a much greater calling to help our communities; one that gives a voice and hope to the legions of Tri-state residents whose basic everyday needs might otherwise go unmet. The Give Back Tour is a big step in that direction,” Egypt added.

Listeners are encouraged to donate new or clean, barely worn coats, unwrapped toys, or financial donations, for all ages.

Background on Organizations to Benefit:

The Children’s Aid Society fills the gaps between what children have and what they need to thrive. They’ve been in existence for over 150 years and serve New York's neediest children and their families at more than 45 locations in the five boroughs and Westchester County. Children’s Aid has continuously been at the forefront of children’s services. The first free school lunch program, the first industrial school for poor children, the first day care program for working mothers and the first visiting nurse service were all Children’s Aid initiatives.

Hudson Cradle is a Group Home in Jersey City providing full, nurturing care to homeless infants with complex health, development, social and safety needs, classified by the Division of Youth and Family Services as medically fragile. In addition, Hudson Cradle provides counseling, education, and support services to birth or foster parents to prepare them to live as a family. Hudson Cradle also provides outreach and educational services to the community.

Toys For Tots helps less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; plays an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children; unites all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign; and contributes to better communities in the future.

New York Cares is one of the city's leading volunteer organizations, bringing vital volunteer support to thousands of nonprofit agencies, public schools, and other deserving organizations. They funnel resources to over 370 non-profit New York based charitable organizations.
