The Children’s Aid Society Partners with Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation to Support Summer Camp Experience for Physically Disabled
The Children’s Aid Society is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, which will allow physically disabled children to attend its Wagon Road Camp in Chappaqua, New York this summer.
Through a grant of $25,000 from the Lisa Beth Gerstman Foundation, Children’s Aid’s Wagon Road Camp will provide 56 camper-weeks at the camp, including the possibility of support for an older teen who could be employed at the camp for the summer. The Children's Aid Society's Wagon Road Camp is located on 53 beautiful wooded acres in Chappaqua, New York, about 35 miles north of New York City.
Per the agreement, Wagon Road proposes to serve four campers in wheelchairs and four campers with hearing impairments. Wagon Road Camp has a wide range of activities designed to emphasize creativity, skill development and social learning. The camp is a summer day camp and also hosts physically and developmentally impaired children during respite camp sessions throughout the year. It is thoroughly equipped to make the camping experience of physically challenged children a delight.
