Bette Midler Kicks Off Million Trees NYC in the Bronx
In October 2007, students from a Children’s Aid Society community school in the Bronx joined Bette Midler, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and other VIPs for the launch of the Million Trees NYC initiative. The program, a public-private partnership between the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and the New York Restoration Project, seeks to plan one million new trees throughout the five boroughs by 2017.
