The 7th Annual Youth Speak Out On Education Conference
This year, thundreds of New York City middle and high school students at the Annual Youth Speak Out On Education Conference presented issues and solutions to many of the obstacles academically affecting students in transitional housing and their road to college. Inspirational remarks were given by New York Rangers Adam Graves. Also welcoming the students were Elayna Konstan, Executive Officer and Susana Vilardell, Director of Students in Transitional Housing of the NYC Department of Education. The youth also heard from Toure, FUSE Network host and author while he moderated one of the events panel discussions. The 2011 Audrey Miller Poritzky Scholarship presentations closed out the event. Recipients of the AMP Memorial Scholarships were Tanzina Nawrin, Jessica Gooden and Danielle Cureton. The recipients for the Educational Scholarships were Sharif Aidara and Shawntavia Williams.
