Go!Kids

The Children’s Aid Society created the Go!Kids Obesity Prevention Program in 2003 to combat the devastating tide of childhood obesity plaguing the low-income, urban communities we serve.
Go!Kids is a comprehensive educational program geared for pre-schoolers and their families. Through weekly classroom sessions, instructors teach the benefits of basic nutrition, increased physical activity levels, and reduced stress, in order to prevent the development of obesity and related conditions.
Through "classroom-to-home" assignments, the message is reinforced for the whole family. As parents learn to help their young children develop good eating habits and lifestyle choices, all family members reduce their risk of developing obesity.
Go!Kids serves children ages 3 to 5 and their families at community schools P.S. 5 and P.S. 8 in Washington Heights and at our Bronx Family Center’s Day Care program. In 2007, a new Go!Kids program will launch at the East Harlem Center Head Start site.
