Talk & Play/Jugando Hablando
Launched in 2005 with support from The Sirus Fund, Talk & Play/Jugando Hablando is designed to serve speech and language-delayed toddlers enrolled in Children’s Aid’s Early Head Start program.
Talk & Play specialists provide intensive home- and school-based play sessions that enrich both the parent-child relationship and the home environment.
A recent study conducted by an outside evaluation consultant demonstrated that children in the program showed greater growth in language as compared to their non-Talk & Play peers. Moreover, Talk & Play caregivers improved in their confidence and knowledge of parenting.
With support from the Mulago Foundation, this special initiative is now expanding to additional early care sites throughout Harlem and Washington Heights.
