Next Generation Center Director
The Next Generation Center (NGC) is a one-stop center designed to support young people, ages 14-24, as they prepare for and transition to adulthood and independence. The mission of NGC is to help high-risk young people change the trajectories of their lives through transformational relationships, stage-based employment programming and strong partnerships with other youth-serving institutions.
NGC is a community-based center in the Morrisania section of the Bronx (Community District 3) with a service delivery and program approach designed to support the needs of youth in foster care and those who have aged out of foster care as well as those involved in the Juvenile Justice System. The center’s program strategy, life coaching model and organizational culture are informed and shaped by our core values of Safety, Care, Connection, Leadership and Growth. We offer individual life coaching, job readiness training and subsidized internships, educational guidance and advocacy, legal counseling, housing assistance, and life skills, creative and visual arts, multimedia, fitness and recreational programming.
The Next Generation Center Director has the primary responsibility of the day to day management of the center including but not limited to: supervision of the Program Coordinator, administrative staff, as well as some direct service staff, oversight of the Life Coaching program, employment program and all pro-social activities offered at the center, as well as all data and fiscal management and management of the NGC building.
• Understand, practice and promote the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
• Oversight and supervision of all aspects the Next Generation Center’s daily operations.
• Participate in and occasionally facilitate regular training sessions in order to support and enhance staff use of Motivational Interviewing, Restorative Practices and Efforts to Outcomes data system.
• Provide regular support and guidance to staff to ensure effective coaching and case management of youth as well as proper documentation of all case contacts.
• Work closely with supervisor, Director of Disconnected Youth Services, to develop budget, hone service delivery models and ensure program deliverables are being met.
• Work with Data Manager to ensure proper documentation of case contacts and to regularly assess quality of interaction between staff and youth as well as to develop and submit monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for CAS and funders.
• Utilize ETO reports and data to inform participant progress toward outcomes, achievement of
professional development, performance management, and to foster a culture of continuous improvement for all staff.
• Regularly report to and solicit feedback from the Director of Disconnected Youth Services.
• Other tasks as assigned

In addition, the ideal candidate for this position will be a trustworthy decision-maker.
NGC expects candidates to have the following qualifications and skills:
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, Creative Arts Therapies or related field
• 4+ years supervisory experience
• 4+ years experience working with difficult-to-engage adolescents
• Understanding of and experience working with high risk, multicultural, diverse young people
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Capacity to think and act intentionally and strategically to help young people change behaviors
• Capacity for creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, violence prevention
• Organizing, managing and completing projects and tasks with thoroughness, accuracy, and timeliness
• Self-motivation, initiative, sound judgment, and commitment to ongoing learning are essential
• Ability to work as a part of a team
• Flexibility with work hours/schedule as needed for programming and participant needs
• Computer Literacy and timely data entry
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required
