Consulting Family Therapist
The FCMH program within the Health and Wellness Division at the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) provides therapy (individual, play, family) psychiatric, psychiatric medication, psychological, educational and speech and language evaluations for children placed in CAS foster care by NYC Administration for Children’s Services (ACS). Our therapists also work with birth parents and foster parents in facilitating better communication with their children through role modeling and dyadic therapies. The FCMH staff works closely with CAS foster care and medical staff to ensure the comprehensive well-being of the child and to help the children achieve permanency.
Provide family therapy to children, adolescents & their families involved in the foster care system
Work closely with Mental Health, Foster Care and Medical staff.
Attend case conferences, as needed.
Comply with paperwork requirements including treatment plans, progress notes and assessment tools.
Experience working with children, adolescents & families in the child welfare system.
Formally trained in family therapy.
LMSW required; LCSW preferred.
Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
Must have own malpractice insurance.
Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Word.
