History and Program

Collaboration between The Children's Aid Society and IS 61 William Morris began in the fall of 2003.  Children's Aid provides an array of extracurricular activities such as homework help, tutoring, visual arts, theater, dance, sports, magic, computers, service learning, drama, cooking and fitness.  Children's Aid also provides full Holiday Program; as well as Summer Camp in partnership with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company.

The school has solid partnerships with Staten Island Mental Health, Museum of Modern Art, Marvel Comics, SI Institute of Arts & Science, and St. John's University.

The school is named after William Morris (24 March 1834 – 3 October 1896), an English artist, writer, and socialist.  He was an important figure in the emergence of socialism in Britain, but broke with the movement over goals and methods by the end of that decade.
