Earlier in May, over 20 young people from our community centers gathered at the East Harlem Center to compete in the division wide Word Bee. Our kids prepared over the course of the entire academic year, diligently learning the words, their definitions and their parts of speech.
To commemorate the birthday of Theodore Geisel, otherwise known as Dr. Seuss, Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School held a day of activities to celebrate his talents last Friday. Staff dressed in costumes of characters from Dr. Seuss stories, and the school was decorated from floor to ceiling with student artwork and colorful images from the books.
The Children’s Aid College Prep Charter School has made available its 2013-2014 lottery application. The lottery system for this charter school located in the Morrisania section of the Bronx is open to all students but will once again prioritize students with specific needs or vulnerabilities.
Last week, about 50 second and third graders from the Children’s Aid Summer Camp at C. S. 211 shared a day of fun, learning and inspiration with U.S. Supreme Court Justice and Bronx native Sonia Sotomayor.
