At Children’s Aid community schools, mental health services are among the most valued by educators and administrators alike, perhaps because most teachers are in dire need of support on how to identify and manage mental health issues and stressors that students bring into the school.

In an effort to help narrow the opportunity gap, House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-Maryland) and House Representative Aaron Schock (R-Illinois) recently introduced the Full-Service Schools Act of 2014, also known as HR 5168. This legislation proposes a federal appropriation to expand full-service K-12 community schools across the United States.  HR 5168 asks for the authorization of five-year grants from the U.S.
