Here in New York City, we can all feel that Autumn is finally here. The days are getting shorter, cool winds are blowing the colorful leaves around us and The Children’s Aid Society after-school programming is in full swing at the Dunlevy Milbank Center in Harlem. On Wednesday, September 29, an energetic group of Bank of New York Mellon volunteers visited Milbank to celebrate fall and equip over 200 youngsters with new cold weather coats, courtesy of Operation Warm.

Dunlevy Milbank’s young people visited the “Milbank Coat Shop” and received the VIP treatment of a personal shopping experience—volunteers helped each individual child select and try on coats to find the perfect cold-weather apparel. The stylish puffy coats were available in a vast array of colors—pink, navy, aqua, olive and many more! Participants were encouraged to express their personal sense of style as they choose the perfect coat for the frosty months ahead.

This year’s coat distribution was an amazing display of corporate engagement and volunteerism by Children’s Aid partner, Bank of New York Mellon. The Children’s Aid Society welcomes corporate groups from across New York City to participate in volunteer projects such as gardening projects, mural painting, special events, financial literacy training and many others. We are so grateful to our BNY Mellon volunteers who visited Milbank to bundle up our young people, and warm our hearts.
