The Children's Aid Chorus Program is in its sixteenth year of bringing together children from all over New York City in song. Chorus participants practice and perform a mixture of classical, popular and world music with artistry. Through the process, they experience personal, musical and social growth. The Chorus encourages intercultural awareness as members come from many ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

As of September 2012, we will have one main Chorus, for advanced singers aged 11-18. Our advanced Chorus is for children and teens who enjoy the challenge and fulfillment of singing a wide range of music in two, three and four part harmony, including fully choreographed numbers.

Performance is an essential part of The Children's Aid's Society Chorus, and the young singers in this group have performed with legendary mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne, Broadway star Donna Murphy, pop superstar Miguel, and rock and roll Hall-Of-Fame inductee Darryl McDaniels of Run D.M.C. Chorus members have performed on NBC’s Today Show, the CBS Early Morning Show, Good Day New York, and ABC’s The View. In the past year, the Chorus performed at Radio City Music Hall twice, for the opening night of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and the annual Garden of Dreams Foundation Talent Show with Whoopi Goldberg. The Chorus also had the privilege singing the national anthem at Madison Square Garden for a Rangers game and sang at the halftime show of the Knicks opening game with Darryl McDaniels of Run D.M.C. The Chorus has toured to various cities include Chicago, Atlanta, San Juan, Hershey, PA, and Toronto, Canada. High praise has been received for their performances at such historic locations as Gracie Mansion, The Morgan Library and Museum and the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

Chorus members regularly attend professional performances, including shows on Broadway, Off-Broadway and at Carnegie Hall to further their musical development.

The CAS Chorus rehearses twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30pm-6:30pm at the Children’s Aid Society Rhinelander Center located at 350 East 88th Street on the Upper East Side.

No prior training is required, though an audition is required for admission into the CAS Chorus. Please call (212) 876-0500 or email to arrange an audition time or for more information.

Full scholarships are available for qualifying Chorus members
