Chief Operating Officer
Dan Lehman serves as chief operating officer for The Children’s Aid Society. He joined in 2011, initially serving as its vice president and chief financial officer, drawing on a wealth of financial experience in city government and in the nonprofit sector. In his current role, he is responsible for all aspects of information technology, facilities, and real estate, with a particular focus on the infrastructure needed to meet organizational goals and program objectives. Dan also plays a significant role in agency policy and new business development.
Before joining Children’s Aid, Dan served as deputy commissioner of finance and planning at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. In this role, he oversaw a combined expense and capital budget of nearly $2 billion and implemented numerous cost reduction, business process improvement and automation projects. Dan’s distinguished career also includes critical roles at the New York City Human Resources Administration, the New York City Department for the Aging, and the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget in addition to various positions in nonprofit organizations and private firms.
Dan is a graduate of Harvard University and earned an M.B.A. in finance and operations management from New York University.
